Dance pop sensation ERIKA JAYNE closes a successful 2009 by skyrocketing up the U.K. music charts with the recently reworked editions of her hit single “Give You Everything,” featuring remixes from Paul Harris, Mark Brown and Michael Woods. The “Give You Everything” remixes have shot to #2 on the Music Week Upfront Club Chart as well as #6 on the Music Week Commercial Pop Club Chart, marking the first time ERIKA has landed on the U.K. charts. In addition, the single has landed on the #5 spot of Billboard’s 2009 year end Hot Dance Club Play Songs chart.

This year has undoubtedly marked ERIKA’s biggest achievements to date. Beginning with the release of her debut album PRETTY MESS (out now on E1 Music) earlier this year, the Atlanta-born, Los Angeles transplant topped the Billboard Hot Dance Club Songs chart with her #1 single “Give You Everything,” marking the third time ERIKA has dominated in this area; her singles “Roller Coaster” and “Stars,” also featured on Pretty Mess, have previously topped the Hot Dance Club Songs chart at #1.

Produced and co-written with some of today’s most in-demand and talented producers– including heavyweights Peter Rafelson (Madonna, Britney Spears, Stevie Nicks) and Eric Kupper (Shakira, Destiny’s Child, Kylie Minogue)–Pretty Mess showcases Jayne’s talent as both a singer and a songwriter with tracks spanning rhythmic pop, dance and chill electronic ballads. Wrote Ashley Mateo of Self.com (June 23, 2009), “Equal parts old-school Madonna and Kylie Minogue, Erika Jayne combines the ideas of love, fantasy and escape with rhythmic pop, club beats and mellow electronica for a debut album she’s dubbed a Pretty Mess.” The album also features a nod to Prince, one of ERIKA’s biggest influences, with a cover of his protégé Apollonia’s hit “Sex Shooter.”

In celebration of her debut, ERIKA hosted a luxurious album release event at the upscale erotica boutique Coco de Mer in Los Angeles in August. Special guests who packed the event included singer/songwriter Jody Watley, actor Michael Des Barres, authors Christopher Ciccone and Neil Strauss, Coco de Mer shop owner Justine Roddick, multi-Grammy Award-winning producer/songwriter Val Garay, famed choreographer Mikey Minden, make-up artist and photographer Troy Jensen and music producers The Perry Twins, Dave Aude and DJ Irene. Additionally, ERIKA has appeared as the cover subject of the November issue of fashion/beauty/entertainment magazine Z!NK in a beautiful 12-page, black-and-white spread.

Disco Balls and Magic

There has been so much going on with the album release and my performances – thank you for all your support. It’s been such a great experience.

I woke up Tuesday August 11th in Atlantic City – the day my album had been made available for the world. I performed that night (loved the Atlantic City audience) and was presented with a plaque that had all my #1 hits and my new record on it. It was big day for me, and one I’ll never forget.

From there I went up to NY for a performance, and I attended the red carpet for the premiere of “The Time Traveler’s Wife” (View Photo and Photo) I wore vintage Thierry Mugler who is one of my all time favorite designers. His clothes make a woman feel sexy and smart…which is how I love to feel when I’m in front of the cameras… I have to say, for the record, Eric Bana is hot hot hot :) NY is very dear to me – I have a special place in my heart for that city…

I had my album release party last night at Coco de Mer in West Hollywood – a big thanks to everyone who came out. We had a full house and a great time. And now I’m getting ready to head to Vegas for a performance at Krave Nightclub on the 5th of September. Never a minute to spare – always on the run. More later -

Fashion

Hey guys. I wanted to take a moment and update everyone with the latest, as things have been pretty crazy with the performances and getting ready for the album drop – August 11th!

As many of you know, I am extremely passionate about fashion and fashion trends. I’ve recently been asked a lot about how I choose the outfits I wear – and I wanted to address what fashion means to me here…

My fashion needs to be all woman, all the time. My fashion is voluptuous, sexy and dangerous at times. I pull an immense amount of inspiration and admiration from classic designers such as Edith Head and Adrian Adolph Greenberg, and I am inspired by movies from the 1940’s. I take fashion trends from the 1940’s and inspiration from my favorite designers and twist it all up in an S&M, chic, current way. I love my fashion to be big and voluptuous all of the time – while still being classy. Hopefully you can see these trends in the outfits I choose for my press interviews and for performances…

Things are really moving along with the album release date. I’ve been giving lots of interviews and staying focused on my upcoming performances – here in LA and then in NY and Atlantic City. As many of you have read, “Give You Everything” just went to #1 on the Billboard Dance Chart – so this has been a very exciting time for me and my team. Of course, you know I had to go out and sink my teeth into a big steak to celebrate the news – I went to Morton’s Steak House in LA to celebrate with close friends and family.

I have to share a very touching story with you guys…

I was recently doing an interview for Fusion Radio with Dave Tripper in Chicago. Off the air, he told me that he had recently gone to Milwaukee for their Pride, and he said “Give You Everything” was playing everywhere… His exact words were “You’re huge in Milwaukee!” It makes me so happy to know that people have such a great response to my music – I love that people feel something while listening to me sing. So here’s a shoutout to the people of Milwaukee – you guys are awesome.

What’s shakin in July…

Hey guys! First and foremost I hope everyone had a happy and safe Fourth of July weekend. I know I sure did – I didn’t do a thing! Not one single thing – except work out… well, ok, and I think I maybe saw a movie – but that was it… I took the opportunity to rest and relax. I ate at a killer Italian restaurant in Santa Monica called Via Veneto (you guys know about me and my obsession with Italian food!). The food is stellar – you must check it out if you’re in LA or visiting.

I loved performing in San Francisco. They really get into their Pride Fesitval – it was amazing to be a part of. I did two shows up there and they were both a huge hit. So a big thank you for all who attended. We had a great time. I am still rehearsing and I have more upcoming shows int he works – details on those to follow soon.

And of course – the album will drop in August. Soo excited about that!

Be sure you’re following me on twitter at www.twitter.com/erikajayne. I keep that page pretty updated with my day-to-day activities.

Time flies when you’re having fun…

I cannot believe it’s been a week since I’ve been on stage at the LA Pride Festival – where does the time go? First and foremost, a HUGE thank you for everyone who came to one or both of my shows – your support means so much to me. I always say that the most important part of being an artist, to me, is performing live and being able to connect with my audiences. I love the emotional response that comes from sharing my music live – knowing that the audience feels something from watching me. That’s what the singing and the dancing and the “show” is all about. I had a great time in LA – thank you.

Now I’m gearing up for my live shows in San Francisco for the Pride Festival during the last weekend of June. I look forward to traveling up there and doing what I love to do most. More information and details about those shows to come – for those of you who can make it.

I’m heading up to NY this coming week to hang out with some friends and relax. I’m looking very forward to the little rest before I get back to promoting. The album drop is right around the corner – early August! I’m getting more and more excited as it gets closer…

Just checking in to say hello. Have a great weekend.

New York … New York

My trip to NY was awesome. I had a lot of really important meetings and saw friends I haven’t seen in a while. It was a quick trip – but an important one nonetheless. I’m back in LA now working hard and preparing for my upcoming two shows…

I am so excited about the success of “Give You Everything” – breaking out as the #1 Billboard Breakout Song, then it was the HOTSHOT Debut of the week, and just a week before that being named the #1 Billboard Breakout Dance Artist – wow. I’m thrilled and excited – it’s everything you could ever hope for. Things are really coming together and making me that much more anxious (in a good way) for the record to hit. You guys are going to love the tracks on this album…

Life is really good right now. On May 20th I attended the 2nd Annunal Logo Awards, and now I’m preparing for the show at the Playhouse on June 14th in Hollywood, and the show for Gay Pride LA – about two weeks away.

I thank you all for your continued support and for making “Give You Everything” such a huge success. I hope to see you all at my upcoming shows.

On the go…

Hey guys! Last week was crazy! I had gotten back from Atlanta from taking care of my grandmother and immediately hit the ground running here in LA to get back to promoting this great album. I have to say what a nice trip Atlanta ended up being – it’s always great to take a “family” break every once in a while. Thank you for your thoughts and support for my grandmother – she’s doing great.

The live show is coming along so well and exceeding my expectations – rehearsals started yesterday and you guys are definitely in for a treat. I come alive on the dance floor – it becomes my own world and I transform – and for this show, I have found dancers that do the same. The performance is insane. I can’t wait for you guys to see it. I’ll be performing at Gay Pride LA Saturday, June 13th at 7:45pm, right before Deborah Cox and Fantasia – how cool is that. I hope that all of you reading this in LA can make it.

I’m heading to NY next week to promote the album there…AND eat at some of my favorite Italian restaurants (of course). I love NY as I used to live there for a few years. I totally love the what-you-see-is-what-you-get attitude. There is a reason the song says “If you can make it there…you’ll make it anywhere…” – I am looking forward to connecting with old friends while I’m there.

Thanks for checking in – I’ll be writing from NY next week.

April Showers Bring May Flowers

Hey guys! Things are going well and I’ve been extremely busy with interviews and press for the release of the album. It’s all very exciting and I’m having a blast. You will have to keep an eye out for the July issue of Hustler Magazine – I recently did a great interview with them and I’m excited for the issue to hit stands.

We are moving right along in preparation for the album release – I just finished casting all my dancers for the live show in preparation for tours and performances. And I must say the dancers are HOT, so ladies, definitely keep your eyes peeled. They’re awesome and I’m excited about the show we are piecing together. I’m also back in the studio and doing what I love.

I really enjoy the time before an album drops – dancing, singing, the press – this is what it’s all about! Getting to share my point of view on life and music with the world – it’s what I live for.

Follow up to my visit in Vegas over Easter weekend: Well, my friend lost :( but we had a GREAT time and I had a blast. I know it’s typical Erika Jayne, but I have to comment on the amazing food I ate while I was there. You guys have to try SW Steakhouse at The Wynn. The food was awesome, and for me to make a comment like that about meat, you know it was stellar! ;) So check it out if you’re in Vegas…

On a more personal note, I will be traveling back home to GA for the weekend to take care of my grandmother. Please keep her in your prayers. Aside from the family time, I hope to connect with some old friends, shop, and (my favorite) hit up Chick-Fil-A as much as I can :) Your thoughts and prayers for my grandmother are greatly appreciated.

Thanks for checking in…more later.

A hello and an update…

Hello! I’m loving this new site and so glad to finally have a blog! Finally a chance for me to stay more in touch with my fans. I hope you’ll stop in often…

I’m suffering from a little bit of a sinus infection at the moment and have been under the weather, but I’ve been working out like a maniac to kick it out of my body – hoping to be better very soon. No one likes to be sick with weather like this in LA … it’s been gorgeous outside.

I’m heading to Vegas to the Mandalay Bay this weekend to watch Winky Wright fight Paul Williams. I love Boxing and I love sports – I could talk sports for hours on end. I’m stoked to watch the match and get away for the weekend.

Also being a huge food fan, I have to suggest the Italian restaurant Cecconi’s off Robertson and Melrose – I ate there this weekend and the food was phenomenal. I love Italian food…love it.

Have a great week – and welcome to my blog!

Dance Music Sensation Erika Jayne Readies Release of New Single “Give You Everything”

Highly Anticipated Debut Album Pretty Mess Scheduled for August 11th Release

GYE Cover Los Angeles (April 7, 2009) – Dance music sensation Erika Jayne will bring her third single, “Give You Everything,” to iTunes on Tuesday, April 7. The surefire hit follows the heat from smash singles “Roller Coaster” and “Stars,” which both rocketed Jayne to #1 on the Billboard Dance charts and made her a favorite on dance floors across the world. The iTunes launch will also feature a package of remixes from DJ Escape & Johnny Vicious, Moto Blanco, Mike Rizzo and Dave Aud. To follow up the release, “Give You Everything” will hit radio stations nationwide on April 13th.

” I’m excited for my fans to hear Pretty Mess,” says Jayne. “When I was working on the album, I wanted to create a collection of songs that would make people want to dance and enjoy themselves – something that they could put on and have a good time.”

Production on Pretty Mess by heavy hitters Peter Rafelson (Madonna, Britney Spears, Stevie Nicks) and Eric Kupper (Shakira, Destiny’s Child, Kylie Minogue) is complemented perfectly with stellar guest production by Esthero and Jahi Lake (Chris Brown), under the name Pinklake, and Ike Dirty (Lil’ Scrappy Ying Yang Twinz), son of the legendary Isaac Hayes. Jayne also receives help from celebrated percussionist Sheila E on the track “Time to Realize;” and includes an ode to her influence Prince with a cover of his protege Apollonia’s hit “Sex Shooter.”

The single release for “Give You Everything” will be accompanied by a video that paired Jayne with Grammy-nominated music video director Marty Thomas and choreographer Mikey Minden (The Pussycat Dolls). Set as Jayne auditions for a starring stage role that leads to a magnetic connection, the video showcases Jayne not only as a singer, but a true dancer and fashion icon.

Jayne has already achieved success ahead of her album release that is not often seen by debut artists. Her #1 singles “Roller Coaster” and “Stars” have ranked her on the Billboard Year-to-End Dance charts two years in a row with “Roller Coaster” at #9 in 2007 and “Stars” at #20 on the Dance Club Play Chart and #15 on the Dance Tracks Chart for 2008. The “Stars” video was a fan favorite on the Click List, LOGO’s music video show, and remained ranked amongst the program’s most popular videos for months. Jayne has also already seen her music make the leap to the big screen with cuts from Pretty Mess being featured in both current and upcoming movie releases.
